• About this module:
Description:
The Process Manager control strip module exists to provide a easy, robust method to access and find information about your Mac's processes (running programs.) It is FAT binary so that on PowerMacs PPC native code is loaded (when using Extensions Strip.) Process Manager is "Extensions Strip Savvy", but also Control Strip compatible.
Feature summary:
• Since the usage of Process Manager is pretty straightforward, I am not going to go into great detail describing it…
• Lots of preferences. Hold down the command key and click on the module to display a popup menu that gives you access to this.
• Lots of tips in the About Box. Hold down the command key and click on the module to display a popup menu that gives you access to this.
• Balloon help displays lots of information about the process whose icon the mouse is over.
• Benefits from using Process Manager with Extensions Strip:
- Ability to have hot keys.
- If you click on a process icon while the CPU is busy, and then you move the mouse away, Process Manager remembers where the mouse click was. The same holds true for clicks with modifier keys held down (PM always remembers what key was down if it was later released.)
- Dragging a process icon outside of the strip will work.
- Display of large icons (also works under Desktop Strip.)
• Distribution:
Process Manager may not be distributed separate from the Extensions Strip Package, and the Extensions Strip Package may not be distributed in a modified form. Users must download the Extensions Strip Package in order to obtain Process Manager, even though they are free to use it under Control Strip if they decide not run Extensions Strip. See, I'm a nice guy after all :-)
